Welch
Growing up in a small farm town in Alberta Mike happened upon
skiing by accident through a school field trip to Paskapoo in
Calgary, which is now Canada Olympic Park. He was 15 at the
time and immediately fell in love with skiing. In 1984, after
finishing school he moved to Banff to work at Sunshine Village
Ski Resort. As a patroller he met several people who were into
guiding and they piqued his interest and encouraged his education
into backcountry travel. In 1990 Mike started working for CMH
as an assistant guide in the Cariboos and moved on to Galena
in 1993. He became a full mountain guide in 1995 and has been
the manager at Galena since 2000. For Mike, guiding and working
for CMH gives him a tremendous amount of freedom and allows
him to spend most of his time outdoors being active. When not
guiding Mike likes to mountain bike, fly fish and play hockey.

GALENA
Galena ne doit pas être choisi
par ceux qui viennent faire de l’héliski pour la première
fois. Il est recommandé aux skieurs sportifs de bon niveau uniquement.
Le lodge est situé dans un lieu retiré et sauvage et permet
un ski magnifique en terrain boisé. Nous skions dans la chaîne
des Badshots, au cœur des Selkirks, région connue pour sa
neige abondante, ses glaciers, ses paysages sauvages et son excellent
ski. Trois vallées arrivent directement au lodge et permettent
de skier par presque tous les temps.
Le lodge de Galena a été ouvert en 1989. Il possède
deux ailes bien distinctes, l’une pour les chambres à coucher,
l’autre pour les pièces communes. Il a excellente réputation.
Il est interdit de fumer à l’intérieur du lodge de
Galena.
